Q: Hi there! I'm interested in buying this suit for my Weimaraner, but I can't seem to find a size that might work for him and was hoping you could give me some advice? He's super long and lean: length ~25-26 inches, chest ~30 inches, neck ~21 inches. He's almost 13 years old and weighs roughly 68 pounds.
Thanks so much!
A: Hi Lisa
Based on weight and chest I would think you need size 24M. Next size option is 28L which will be longer in the back but similar otherwise.
Q: I have a small American Hairless Terrier (9 lbs) measuring 11" back length, girth 16.5", neck 12". Looking at the sizing chart it appears that she would wear a 12XS but the general sizing information indicates that the XS size is more for long back/short leg dogs. If I did the measuring and conversion right her front leg measures more like 11.5 cm (4.5"). Would the 12XS be correct or would 12S be a better fit? Thank you.
A: Hi Jean,
Thank you for your interest in our Hurtta Body Warmer. I would actually suggest the 12L for your American Hairless. The leg is very close to the length you are measuring, the waist and neck are both adjustable with drawstrings to tighten. The 12XS will have very short legs and the 12S does not really help with the leg length.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
The Casual line is nice if you would like to match up leash, collar, harness etc.
I have two poodles, and I need help with the sizing of this item. Their dimensions are:
Front Legs 18cm
Back 32 cm
Chest 43 cm
Front Legs 22 cm
Waist 33 cm
Could you please recommend a size?
A: Hi Caroline,
For the Body Warmer I would suggest the 28L and the 32M for your two Poodles based on the measurements you have given.
Do you exepect getting smaller sizes, 8S and 10S?
I would love to get those for my tinny fur babies.
A: Hi Justyna
The Body Warmer is now in stock in all sizes from 8S to 32M.
Q: Hello there!
I have an American Hairless Terrier and he is 14" from the back of his neck to the base of his tail, 11.5" around the neck and 19.5" around his chest just behind his front legs. What size would you recommend? I was thinking a 14S?
A: Hi Sabrina
Yes, I agree with size 14S based on your measurements.
Q: What size for a 28" tall standard male Dobe?
A: Hi Janet
The height of the dog doesn't give me enough information to determine which size you need. If I knew the weight and breed I could guess but the best way to determine the size is to measure the dogs back length from the withers to the base of the tail and the chest circumference at the biggest point right behind the front legs.
There's a video showing how to measure the dog here on the product page.
My guess is that you need either size 24M or 28M but it depends on how big he is.
Q: will this suit work well to keep snow off the dog. I didn't want to pick a heavy snow suit version? I want to use this one to keep the snow from sticking to her hair.
A: Hi Lynn,
Thank you for your interest in our Body Warmer. This item is not waterproof - it would keep snow from clumping up on your dogs hair. It will not keep her dry however. I hope this helps.
You may want to check out the Slush Combat Suit if you are looking for something thin that is waterproof (to keep him dry) and to keep snow from clumping in her hair as an alternative to the Body Suit.
These items are actually great layered together.
Q: Does this suit have an opening in the back to attach a leash to a harness or is it thing enough to comfortably wear under a harness?
No Answers have been submitted yet.
Q: Hello, I am interested in the Hurtta body warmer. Nevertheless, I wonder how warm it can be. I mean, it will be more warm than a regular fleece dog pijama? Because it looks as thin as the sun & bug overall.
Thanks in advance for the help.
A: Hi Erika
Hurtta specializes in lightweight, highly technical dog apparel. The fabric of the Body Warmer is different than of the Sun & Bug Suit. The technical properties og the fabric, as well as the foil lining which reflects the dogs body heat, makes it warm without bulk. Whether it’s warmer than a thick fleece, I’m not sure, but the thinness of the fabric makes it ideal for active dogs and for layering.
Q: I have a bichon, with hair that mats fairly easily and which gets huge balls of snow stuck in it, on both legs and body (she loves to roll in it). She’s been wearing a eurofleece suit with legs and a high neck that I bought from you a few years ago. It keeps most of the snowballing away. But this year, it seems to be causing accelerated matting, just from wearing it on neighborhood walks. I’m wondering if this hurtta body warmer is smoother on the inside, like the lining of a human’s coat is to make sliding on over sleeves easier. I think the fleece is not smooth enough, and the friction is causing the matting. What do you think? Also, her back length is 16” and chest 22”, so size advice would be appreciated.
A: Hi Julia,
Yes the body Warmer is very smooth on the inside, and should cause less friction against her fur. However, the Body Warmer is not waterproof, so if she is in going to be rolling in snow a 4 legged waterproof suit would be the best option.
The Downpour Suit and Slush Combat suit are both smooth and waterproof. You would need a size 16M in both of these suits, and the Body Warmer if you decide that will suit you. The legs might be a little long depending on how short your Bichon's legs are. You can just roll the leg sleeves up a bit if needed.
Q: Hello, I would like to buy a body warmer from my dog, but accoding to the size chart I am not sure which size to pick. Can you please help me? Here measures:
chest 62 cm
neck 44 cm
body 50 cm if checking from neck to tail
A: Hi, Kata
Thank you for your interest in the Body Warmer.
Based on the measurements of your dog, I'd recommend a size 50M/20M.
Thank you, Mia
Q: I am so thrown off by your sizing measurements. I have an American Fox Hound.
She is 25 long, neck 19.5, chest 29.5 What size would you suggest in your winter
four-legged snow suit.
A: Hi Angela.
Based on your measurements I would recommend size 24M in the Hurtta Body Warmer. Please be aware that this suit is not waterproof. If you need waterproof I would recommend the Dakota Snow Suit or combining the Hurtta Downpour Suit with the Body Warmer.
Thank you, Katja
