    Best Rolled Leather Martingale
These martingales are so nice. They do not bleed (even the red). They are very comfortable to hold. The chain is sturdy. The leather will stretch if your dog pulls excessively. Make sure you order the correct size, or it will easily slip off your dog's head. It shouldn't choke your dog when the chain is closed.

    Questions and Answers

Q: Sophie is a soft-coated wheaten terrier. Neck behind the ears: 13" Neck at base: 13.5 Biggest part of head: 15.5-16". I've been told by a trainer (she herself has a wheaten terrier) that the Martingale is an excellent, positive training tool because the sound of the chain beginning to tighten is enough of a signal to the dog that a full tightening is rarely needed. The 16" size in this collar slips over her head easily, but cannot be drawn tight on her neck -- it slides down to her throat. A different 14" collar (not purchased here) puts pressure on her ears when putting it on. Is her neck too straight/skinny for this type of collar? Would a "half-choke" collar have a better chance of staying up high on her neck, behind the ears? Thank you.

    A: Hi Leslie
It probably has to do with the size of the dogs head compared with the neck. If the head is slim and more or less the same circumference as the neck it will be tricky with the martingale. Then the half choke would be a better choice as you can adjust how much it can tighten.
    Thank you,

Q: I would like this collar for my Rottweiler whose neck size is 21-22 inches. What size would I order?
