I searched and searched for what I considered suitable for running and hiking with my two dobes. When I found this website and watched Katja's video online I knew I wanted the Hurtta padded Y harness. I ordered what I thought was an appropriate size after measuring my then 9 month old pups. Within the hour Katja emailed me to confirm I was positive about the sizes because typically female doberman need one size up from what I ordered. After giving it second thought I realized my dogs would continue to grow and that Katja's size suggestion would be better. I replied to her email to change the size to her suggestion, and the harnesses arrived in a timely manner. I absolutely love these harnesses and so do my dogs. They do not seem uncomfortable in them whatsoever and get excited when I get them out, because they know what that means! I highly recommend both these harnesses for barrel chested dogs, and this website for any dog owner who needs outdoor equipment! Thank you Katja!

    Harness
Searched and searched to find a great harness for my 12 year old ridgeback. She has spondylosis and needed a harness that would not stress her back or neck area. The Hurtta harness does a great job.

    Love it!
I love the harness! I use it for tracking class. It appears comfortable for my dog. It has not gotten caught on trees and weeds. It has kept it's shape and fit even through snow, rain and swamp tracking. It does NOT slip from place even with my Doberman Pinscher pulling. I love that it reflects in the dark for easy fallowing during tracking. Thank you to Katja for help with the fitting, as it fits my boy perfect!

It is everything as described. I'm delighted with this purchase. It seems more secure (she can't back out of it easily) than others I've had. Plus it is easy to put on.

    Questions and Answers

Q: Hi, I have a 5.5 month old English springer spaniel that is outgrowing her harness and I was considering replacing it with one of yours. She measures about 22 inches girth and weighs about 26 lbs (supposed to max out at 40 lbs). I was wondering what size you would suggest in the padded y harness. Also, I realize the size is the largest the harness will go but approximately how much smaller will they go? Just trying to make sure I don't buy one that she will grow out of quickly and do buy the biggest one that will fit her well

    A: Hi there
The harness can adjust in all the way to the D ring on the top, actually, but the neckline would not be smaller so that is usually the one to consider.
You dot' want your dog to grow right out of it, but also don't want that the harness is so big in the neckline that she can slip out or it fits badly.
I think, if she measures 22" now, that size 28" is a good bet.
    Thank you,
    Katja
