Exactly What I was Looking For!
Wisconsin winter's are extremely cold, often dropping below zero with wind chill that seems to cut through you. I own a Catahoula Leopard Dog adopted from Kentucky, so her short and thin fur is no match for the cold. Although I have many coats for my pup, I wanted the warmest I could find. This is exactly what I was looking for. The design is perfect, the pictures don't do it justice. There is a section of material that covers the chest better than I thought. It fits slimming, very lightweight, and covers the neck and rear better than most products. The foil lining truly works, I can literally feel the warmth of the coat after my dog has only worn it for a few minutes. I absolutely LOVE the vibrant orange color. Perfect for visibility, especially when hiking during hunting season. It's honestly better than I expected. I originally ordered a different coat that was too big and I didn't like the style, Euro Dog Designs was AMAZING about exchanging so I could get this coat. Another wonderful experience with this company!

    Best winter coat
This is the best winter coat I've purchased for my Bullboxer, Mani. We hike in the mountains of Colorado a lot, in winter as well as summer, and she hates the wind. Before we started using this coat, she would whine whenever the cold wind would blow on the mountain, or when we would be visiting my parents back in the Midwest at Christmas. Now she rarely whines at all, and she seems perfectly comfortable being outside in the snow and cold with me for hours. The foil lining and the hood make all the difference in the world. The fit is great, and I absolutely love the new high visibility colors. I bought the orange and it is perfect. I would recommend this coat to anyone with a short-haired dog that spends a lot of time out hiking in winter temps.

    Questions and Answers

Q: Which is warmer the Hurtta Summit Coat or the Hurtta Extreme Warmer? Or another? Im looking for a vizsla and I live in Canada where it is not uncommon to have -35C in the winter with wind.
    Asked by: Christine - 11/10/2017
    A: Hi Christine
The Extreme Warmer is the warmest coat we have as it has a heat reflective foil lining and built in snood. That combined with the Hurtta Body Warmer which also has the foil lining, would be a winning combination for your Vizsla.
An alternative would be the Dakota Snow Suit which is also really warm and toasty. Combine with the Alaska Fleece Snood your dog would be pretty well covered.
    Thank you,

    Q: would a 26" fit a great dane?
    Asked by: Roshan - 8/26/2017
    A: Hi Roshan
In order to determine which size your dog needs you have to measure the back length from the withers (further back from the collar at the point of the shoulder blades) to the base of the tail.
This measurement dictates the size you need.

Q: Can my dog go potty in this coat? I read it is closed in the back? Thank you
    Asked by: Victoria - 12/21/2017
    A: Hello Victoria,

Thank you for your interest in our Extreme Warmer Coat. This item would be buttoned up 'after' your dog has done his business. For females they can usually urinate while wearing the coat.

    Thank you,

Q: I measured my dogs, and want the Extreme Warmer coat for both in orange. However, the largest size you list is 26. One dog, if I measured correctly, is 28" from in front of the collarbone to base of tail, and the other is 29". Will the 26" coat fit them? I was hoping for total coverage of the back.
Asked by: Sheila Lovel - 1/2/2018
    A: Hi Sheila
The Extreme Warmer is only available in sizes 10" through 26" in Orange and Lingon. These are limited edition colors and therefore Hurtta North America has chosen to only take in the most popular sizes. Alternative is the Extreme Warmer in Granite
Or if you want orange we have the Summit Parka up to size 35".
It does sound like you may have measured for a different item (Equafleece). Hurtta is measured from the withers (very base of the neck where it meets the shoulders) to the base of the tail. There is a video how to measure in the link above. This may solve your issue altogether.
    Thank you,

    Asked by: Hayden - 1/6/2018
    A: Hi Hayden
Yes, you would need size 18" in the Extreme Warmer.
