    Description

The Hurrta Extreme Warmer dog coat is brand new for the 2016/17 fall and winter season.
What sets the Extreme Warmer apart from any other dog coat is the unique lining which reflects the dogs body heat and therefore keeps the dogs warmer in even extremely cold conditions. The Extreme Warmer dog coat is probably the warmest dog coat on the market. It's the newest coat in Hurtta's lineup and provides great coverage of the whole dog with the high neck cover, protective front and coverage of the hind end. The chest flap keeps the sensitive chest area warm and protected and as it's very adjustable allows for the perfect fit for any built of dog, even very big chested dogs like Dobermans, Boxers, Whippets, etc. The high neck cover has a build in snood that can be pulled up over the dogs ears for extra protection when needed. The back length can be adjusted with a drawstring for optimal fit. Drawstring also at the lower neckline. The outer shell is made from very smooth and noise free material, laminated with a waterproof and breathable Houndtex® membrane to keep your dog dry and warm, even in wet weather. Very comfortable for the dog to wear and allows for complete freedom of movement. Designed for cold and brutal winter conditions.
Double opening on the back for leash attachment to collar or harness.
Highly efficient 3M reflectors for added safety in the dark.
Maschine washable warm with no fabric softeners.
Available in Granite in sizes 10"-26".
Now also available in Orange and Lingon (Red). Click here

To determine what size your dog needs, please measure your dog according to the video below. The back length is the most important measurement as the neck and chest are both very adjustable. Pick the size that corresponds with your dogs back length. If your dog is in-between sizes, go up (ie. measures 21" go up to 22"). See size chart below.

Please note that these coats are not indestructible. They are made from technical lightweight materials to ensure comfortable fit and freedom of movement. They are not made from rip-stop material. The bungie cord in the neckline is not intended to hook a leash to. It will not hold up to the pressure of a dog pulling.

    Great coat!
I bought this coat for my two dogs, both are small with no undercoat. My yorkshire terrier mix who normally hates braving the wind and cold and hates wearing layers of fleece and other coats was so happy to be outside in her extreme warmer. I didn't have to put any extra layers on in 32F weather, and she was not trembling and loved having a lighter but warm winter coat while walking outside. We walked for 45 minutes without her stopping me once! The inside lining is also very smooth so I'm not worried about mats at all with this coat.

Q: Hello, I would need some help: I would like to purchase a warm wintercoat for my 5kg small terrier-mix lady who has lmid-ong fur, but no undercoat. My two options are the new extreme war er and the ultimate warmer. The biggest issue by my dog with all the jackets are the chest area. Due to her small size she gets snow-balls everytime under the jackets which stay at her chest and makes her freeze...:/ Which of the 2 jackets would you recommend for this problem? Of course, on the pictures I can not see good how big or small is the cut for the chest-leg part, and if its too big, snow will still go in. Thank you in advance for your help.
    Asked by: Eszter - 11/15/2016
A: Thank you for your interest in our products! Both the Extreme warmer and the Ultimate Warmer are excellent winter coats.

The Extreme Warmer is the warmest of the two coats and provides great coverage of the whole dog with the built in snood. This Coat has a flap that keeps the chest area warm and protected.

The Ulitmate Warmer also provides great coverage of the whole dog and is designed for active dogs. This coat does have elastic hind leg straps to keep the coat in place. There is a flap that covers the chest area.

If you are looking for complete coverage with legs included the Dakata Snow Suit is the best. This coat is designed to keep the snow, wind and water away from the dogs body.

I hope this helps you decide which coat is best for your dog. Please feel free to contact me with any questions anytime.

Q: Which is the warmest of the winter coats? I was just about to order the Dakota Snow Suit and then I noticed the Extreme Warmer dog coat. I live in Toronto Canada and my dog is a parson terrier. She is usually out on a walk for at least 45 minutes so I want to make sure she is warm. Thanks so much for you answers. Your customer service is great!
    Asked by: alix - 11/23/2016
    A: Hi Alix
The Extreme Warmer has a new innovative foil lining that reflect the dogs body heat which makes it a very warm coat. The Dakota Suit also covers the legs which insulates the dog further than when wearing a coat. I would say the two are pretty similar warmth wise so it depends on whether you want the legs covered or not.
    Thank you,
    Katja

Q: My 16 lb spaniel mix has has worn Hurtta winter coats for several seasons. We walk in temps down to 10F and with 2 fleeces under her Hurtta coats she remains comfortable and happy (and stylish) for long walks. I am interested in trying the Extreme Warmer coat for her this season and was wondering if wearing a fleece under the coat will negate the warming effect. In other words, is it not recommended to use a primary layer under the Extreme Warmer coat?
    Asked by: Rosie - 12/17/2016
    A: Hi Rosie
That is a very good question.
The heat reflective lining will probably loose some of it's properties if what is layered underneath doesn't allow heat to come though. I would think the Hurtta Body Suit, which also has a heat reflective Lining would be the best option for layering with the Extreme Warmer.
    Thank you,
    Katja

Q: Hi! I am thinking of purchasing this coat for my Miniature Daschund, and was wondering about sizing. He has Hurta Summit in a size 12 and it is way too short over his back. Fits him great everywhere else. He measures 14 inches on his back, and 16 inches for the chest measurement. What would you recommend? Thank you!
    Asked by: Deborah - 10/7/2017
    A: Hi Deborah
The back is the most important, especially on this coat as it goes down around the backend. If the back measures 14" then that is the size you need.
    Thank you,
    Katja
