Warm winter dog coat made by Hurtta, the 'North Face' of dog wear. Tested in extreme weather conditions to ensure optimal warmth and comfort. Top notch quality and very easy to use, just pulls over the dogs head, bring the chest flap between the front legs and fastens on the back with a plastic snap buckle. Elasticated hind leg straps ensures the coat stays in place even on very active dogs. Adjustable neck and chest. Fully wind and waterproof and breathable. Dirt resistant outer layer, insulation layer and cozy fleece lining. 3M reflectors for added safety. Machine washable.
This coat does not have an opening on the back for the leash to attach to a harness. Please see the Summit Parka or Ultimate Warmer if you need that. Suitable for even big chested dogs like Doberman, Whippets, Weimaraner, Vizsla, Boxer, Bulldogs, Pit Bulls etc, as it is very adjustable in the chest area. Available in Black and Red in 15 sizes: 9" - 33" (24-85cm).
Please Click Here for The Blue Winter Coat. Lots more pictures in 'Image Gallery'.

To determine what size your dogs needs, measure the back length from withers to base of the tail like shown in the video below. Back length is the main measurement as the neck and chest are both adjustable (more so than in the size chart). You should choose the size that corresponds with the back length of your dog. If your dog is in between size go up.

Please note, these coats are not indestructible. They are made from technical lightweight materials to ensure comfortable fit and freedom of movement without sacrificing warmth. They are not made from rip-stop material. The bungie cord in the neckline is not intended to hook a leash to. It will not hold up to the pressure of a dog pulling.

I ordered two of these coats for my Dobes. Cubbee, our 109 lb. black male, loves his red coat and flies in and out of the woods in it. Cooper, our red Dobe, tore his the first time out. Katja agreed to take it back and replace it with a new coat. This is the kind of service I expected from from a seller of these high end dog coats. His new one has been shipped.

I ordered 14" and 16" winter jackets for my puggles. They both fit perfectly. The quality is very good. They both seem warm in the snow and wind which is what we were looking for.The leg straps help a lot b/c without them they slide to the left on one dog and right on the other. The only downside I can say is the price but these jackets will most likely last for there whole lives.

We are extremely happy with our winter coat and although it took our dog a few minutes to realize he could actually move in his new coat it keeps him warm and dry. We have recently gone to our local pet shop and ordered another for our smaller italian greyhound/mix. We love the way it fits and the quality is excellent

Euro Dog Design is a pleasant surprise among endless on-line shopping companies to choose from. Katja takes the prize for being the most helpful, communicative and thoughtful, wanting each purchase to be the perfect choice and fit for her customers and their dogs. I have ordered the Hurtta Winter Dog Coats for three of my dogs and love the coat. The quality is exceptional and the material performs well. The coat is light and keeps the dogs warm and dry. The collar makes the coat versatile for various temperatures, putting the collar up on cold days or folding down for warmer ones. Hurtta offers so many sizes, which makes it easier to choose the best size possible for your dog. Thanks Katja!

    Rating Excellent product
I needed weather protection for my newest dog, a Bull Terrier, but the coat I bought last year for my Pit Bull (on another website) had been discontinued. While shopping around I stumbled across EuroDog Designs and, after reading the comments, felt confident in the product. Although I'd measured carefully, Katja contacted me to confirm the sizing and determined that what I'd ordered wouldn't work at all. With her help I got the correct size, and when it arrived today it fit beautifully. I especially love the reflectors. This will keep my girl warm when the temps drop into single digits or lower.

Rating Better quality, nice details, extensive sizing
Bough this coat for a difficult-to-fit Boston Terrier (shorter length than most dogs, with a wider neck), and have been very happy to have it for the cold winter. The materials and construction is a better quality than more commonplace coats. The broader belly coverage is a nice feature, and really helpful in deep snow. We use a harness on the dog, which often presents a problem with fitting coats properly. In this instance, we've taken to loosening the harness and fitting it over top of the coat.

    Rating Awesome jacket
I am very pleased with the jacket I purchased. I only have one suggestion and that would be to have another strap around that back half of the jacket and dog. My dog chewed off the leg straps that where securring the back half of the jacket in place. I have since been putting a strap that buckles around her stomach keeping the back half of the jacket from sliding around. Thanks again. Casey

    Rating Great quality
Looked at many different coats online and decided to go with Hurtta as all the reviews were excellent. So far it's lived up to its name, great quality coat, super warm and looks good! We have an English Pointer who tends to get quite cold and the size 26" fits great. I love how it completely covers the chest area, a lot of other coats don't. He hasn't actually gone for a walk or run in it yet, only worn around home so will be interesting to see if the coat stays in place. I hope so! The only thing I could see that might need changing on ours is the leg straps, they are really loose, other than that I will highly recommend. Thanks Katja!

Rating This coat provided comfort and security for my Jack Russell
In the winter of 2013-2014, we had such bitter cold, and my thin-coated Jack was visibly uncomfortable on the mornings we would walk. Even being out in the yard with a fleece jacket made him shiver and huddle by the door. I resolved to find a solution for this winter. This coat was a splurge, as I am not used to spending so much for an item for my dog. However, I was willing to risk it because I was desperate. I first noticed how beautifully constructed the coat was. Then I saw that it had little reflective areas, a wonderful safety feature because we love to walk in the wee hours of the morning when it is dark and no one is awake yet. I noticed my Petey was instantly more comfortable and felt secure when he was out in the cold temps. I cannot tell you what a relief it was to me to see him so happy and calm in the cold. I will recommend this marvelous product to everyone I know with a dog - especially a thin-coated dog. Thank you for painstakingly and thoughtfully creating such a remarkable product!

Q: How do you size your dog?
    Asked by: Jemel - 11/20/2013
    A: Hi Jemel
Measure your dog along the back from withers (base of neck where it attaches to the body) to the base of the tail. Also measure the dogs chest at the biggest point right behind the front legs.
I have made a video to show how to measure which is on the page if you scroll down a bit.
There is also a description on how to measure plus measuring chart on my blog:

Q: we have a boxer and his measurements are... from the neck down to his tail....23 inches and 31 around his chest.... what size should we order and we live and Toronto Canada, do you ship here???, and if not were can we find you coats.....
    Asked by: Carlos - 11/29/2013
    A: Hi Carlos
Thank you for your interested in the Hurtta Winter Coat.
Yes, we ship to Canada and all over the world.
I want to confirm where you measured your dog from.
Did you measure from the collar or from the withers (where the skin folds when they lift their heads)? It makes a difference in what measurements you get and how the coat fits.
My guess would be you need a size 22" based on experience with Boxer sizes, but I would like to be sure as you could need size 24" if you measured from the withers.
    Thank you,

Q: Why does the measurement video show how to take three measurements, but only one is requested when ordering? My dog has a very big chest to waist ration and I would like to be assured the coat fits before I order. Thanks, Clayt
    Asked by: clay - 11/30/2013
    A: Hi Clay
If you look at the measuring chart, it has all the measurements shown in the video.
You then find out what size you need and choose that size on the website.
There is a link to the measuring charts in the product description but I can link it here as well:
As you can see, my Doberman have very large chests and the Hurtta Winter Coat fits them great. I am confident we can fit your dog as well.
If you send me your dogs measurements I will be happy to help you determine what size to get.
On the WInter Coats the back length is the most important measurement as the neck and chest is adjustable, as I mention in the video.
    Thank you,

A Boxer usually take size 20" or 22".
I have sent you an email asking your dogs back length as this is the important measurement and what determines what size to get.

Based on your measurements I would recommend size 13" for your Dachshund.
The chest is very adjustable so it can be adjusted in.

Q: I have an 11 pound yorkie. His neck to tail measurement is 14" but his waist girth is about 17. I'm not sure how adjustable these jackets are but the 14" long has a way bigger waist measurement than would fit him and it I got his jacket based on the waist measurement it would be too short. Any recommendations? I'd love to purchase one for him. Thank you!!
    Asked by: Sarah - 12/16/2013
    A: HI Sarah
The back length is the most important measurement for the Winter Coat.
Make sure you measure from the withers, not where the collar sits.
The chest and neck are both very adjustable so not as important.
    Thank you,

Q: I need a winter coat for my lab...he is 12, weighs about 87 pounds, and has bad hips. Looking for clothes that will extend in the back enough to help keep his hips warm. Is this a good selection for that?
    Asked by: Sadie - 12/5/2013
    A: Hi Sadie
All the Hurtta coats cover the hips, but some give better coverage than others.
I would recommend either the Waterproof Fleece Overalls or the Ultimate Warmer.
I think the Waterproof Fleece Overalls would be the best fit for you reeds as they cover the legs as well as the body. This way the wind won't blow up under the coat and make him cold.
Sounds like you need size 24S.
    Thank you,
