    Description

Hurtta Boots for dogs!! I am so excited to finally offer Booties from Hurtta. They have been long awaited and are being officially launched spring 2015. I have been able to secure a small quantity for my customers for this winter season. High quality dog boots for walking and hiking on rugged surfaces or for tough weather conditions. Prevents snowballing, and ice accumulation between the pads, plus cracking of the pads. Very suitable for walking on sand to prevent cracked and sore pads. Also great for keeping salt off the paws when city walking in the winter. Comfortable and ergonomic design. Soft and durable sole with excellent grip. Easy to put on and take off. Made from Weatherproof Houndtex® soft shell. Machine washable. Sold in pairs of 2 (which means for two paws, not all four) in order to accommodate dogs that need different sizes front and back, or if you need to replace one boot, you don't have to buy a set of 4. Measure the width of your dogs paw.
See video and measuring chart for size.
Make sure the velcro is securely fastened and to keep an eye on your dog while wearing the boots so you can catch if the velcro comes undone.
Breed recommendations: Size S: Jack Russel, Tibetan Spaniel. Size M: Cocker Spaniel, Spanish Water Dog. Size L: Border Collie, Golden Retriever. Size XL: Giant Schnauzer, Boxer, Doberman. Size XXL: Leonberger, Great Dane.

    Hurtta Boots
I've had the shoes for a few weeks, and initially I was really impressed with them, as the fit my dog (a mini poodle / mini schnauzer cross) perfectly. However; now that is cold enough to need them for our walks, I have found two of the shoes were sewn in such a way that very prickly parts of the velcro are sticking out of the lining, and have cut into the tops of two of my dogs feet. Taking the shoes off after a walk and finding two paws bloodied has left me very unhappy. I'm now in the process of trying to tidy up the inside of the shoes, cover the rough areas with moleskin, and perhaps find some sock liners for them.

    Ernie loves his boots!
We get some bitterly cold winter days in which Ernie's paws get cold and he holds thems up, wanting to get them off the snow. These boots are a life saver for us! We bought a pair last winter and another pair recently so he has all 4 feet covered. He doesn't mind wearing them- walks a little funny at first but then remembers how fast he can run in them and tears around, loving them. I check them occasionally while outside and they do indeed keep his feet dry and warm. From our experience, I think it takes a couple wears to break them in because when they're new we've had one come off (takes a lot of hard running around though to come off). They seem to hold up well and are well made. He's a male doberman and wears XL. Overall very happy with them!

    Questions and Answers

Q: What is the best way to measure for proper fitting of the Hurtta Outback boots? Thanks.
    Asked by: Jan - 9/15/2014
    A: Hi Jan
The best way to size for these is to measure your dogs paw width plus ankle circumference and then look in the measuring chart (one of the images on the product page) to see which size you need..
    Thank you,
    Katja

Q: I would also like to know how to measure correctly for the boots. Do you have a recommendation on size for an adult male Doberman Pinscher?
    Asked by: KB - 9/15/2014
    A: Hi there

As mentioned above, the best way is to measure according to the measuring chart.
I am trying size XL for my Dobie bitch, but if your boy has paws wider than 3" you may need size XXL.

    Thank you,
    Katja

Q: Hi, Katja. The EQDog booties are seamless inside. Is that also true for the Hurtta booties? Another question: my dog has very soft, easy-to-damage skin - which booties would you advice getting? Thanks!
    Asked by: Maria - 1/8/2015
    A: Hi Maria
To be honest, I don't have as many specs on the Hurtta Boots as I do the EQDOG shoes. However as it seems to be a special feature on the EQDOG shoes, that they are seamless, I don't think it something that is common.
The Shoes also has a break over point on the nose that makes it easier and more comfortable for the dog to walk and run in them.
I'm not sure there's a huge difference in how gentle they are on the skin, but the Hurtta boots have a softer cuff so they may be a bit softer than the EQDOG.
    Thank you,
    Katja

Q: My dog is missing the outside toe. Do I still measure where the stump is slightly up the paw or only where the actual toes are? Thank you.
    Asked by: Emily - 3/4/2015
    A: Hi Emily
The size is based on the width of the dogs paw, so if your dog is missing a toe, which makes the paw narrower, you may need a smaller size. It may be a good idea to measure just above the toes to make sure the paw will fit in the boot.
However for the boot to fit both paws, you may have to compromise a bit for the one that is missing a toe.
Alternative is to buy two different sizes if needed.
    Thank you,
    Katja

Q: Hi Katja, My dogs' front paws are 3.8 cm - 1.5 inches wide. I measured when they put their weight on a paw. Should I order Small or Medium? Their breed is Chihuahua and Miniture poodle mix. Their ankle circumference are 5cm. Thanks.
Asked by: Megumi Drynan - 12/10/2016
    A: Hi Megumi
I would recommend size S as they are roomy.
    Thank you,
    Katja

Q: Hi, can you let me know which size I should get for my border collie which is on the large size and weighs about 54lbs. His paw width is about 2 3/4 inches in the front and 2 1/2 inches in the hind legs. Can you also let me know what is the length of the shoes in Large and Extra Large?
